چکیده

The interplay between structure, magnetism, and superconductivity in single crystal Ba(Fe 1−x Co x) 2 As 2 (x = 0.047) has been studied using high-resolution x-ray diffraction by monitoring charge Bragg reflections in each twin domain separately. The emergence of the superconducting state is correlated with the suppression of the orthorhombic distortion around T C , exhibiting competition between orthorhombicity and superconductivity. Above T S , the in-plane charge correlation length increases with the decrease of temperature, possibly induced by nematic fluctuations in the paramagnetic tetragonal phase. Upon cooling, anomalies in the in-plane charge correlation lengths along a (ξ a) and b axes (ξ b) are observed at T S and also at T N indicative of strong magnetoelastic coupling. The in-plane charge correlation lengths are found to exhibit anisotropic behavior along and perpendicular to the in-plane component of stripe-type AFM wave vector (101) O below around T N. The temperature dependence of the out-of-plane charge correlation length shows a single anomaly at T N , reflecting the connection between Fe-As distance and Fe local moment. The origin of the anisotropic in-plane charge correlation lengths ξ a and ξ b is discussed on the basis of the antiphase magnetic domains and their dynamic fluctuations.

Jump in specific heat at the superconducting transition temperature in Ba(Fe1â‹TMxCox)2As2 and Ba(Fe1â‹TMxNix)2As2 single crystals

We present detailed heat capacity measurements for Ba(Fe1−xCox)2As2 and Ba(Fe1−xNix)2As2 single crystals in the vicinity of the superconducting transitions. The specific-heat jump at the superconducting transition temperature (Tc), ΔCp/Tc, changes by a factor of ∼10 across these series. The ΔCp/Tc vs Tc data of this work [together with the literature data for Ba(Fe0.939Co0.061)2As2, (Ba0.55K0.4...

X-ray Charge-Dens Study of 5-Chloro-8-hydroxy-6-methyloaphthalene-l.4-dione: A Hydroxynaphthoquinone Derivative

The X-ray charge density analysis of a hydroxynaphthoquinnne derivative was obtained by multipolar Hansen-Coppens formalism refinement through high resolution X-ray diffraction data at 100(1) K. The molecularproperties of the title compound resulted from the combined experimental and the quantum theory of atoms inmolecules (QTAIM) studies. The topological properties of the covalent bonds and of...

Anisotropic magnetoelastic coupling in single-crystalline CeFeAsO as seen via high-resolution x-ray diffraction

Single-crystal synchrotron x-ray diffraction studies of CeFeAsO reveal strong anisotropy in the chargecorrelation lengths along or perpendicular to the in-plane antiferromagnetic (AFM) wave vector at low temperatures, indicating an anisotropic two-dimensional magnetoelastic coupling. The high-resolution setup allows to distinctly monitor each of the twin domains by virtue of a finite misfit ang...

Susceptibility anisotropy in an iron arsenide superconductor revealed by x-ray diffraction in pulsed magnetic fields.

In addition to unconventional high-T(c) superconductivity, the iron arsenides exhibit strong magnetoelastic coupling and a notable electronic anisotropy within the a-b plane. We relate these properties by studying underdoped Ba(Fe(1-x)Co(x))2As2 by x-ray diffraction in pulsed magnetic fields up to 27.5 T. We exploit magnetic detwinning effects to demonstrate anisotropy in the in-plane susceptib...

Strong coupling of the iron-quadrupole and anion-dipole polarizations in Ba(Fe(1-x)Co(x))2As2.

We use a quantitative convergent beam electron diffraction based method to image the valence electron density distribution in Ba(Fe1-xCox)2As2. We show a remarkable increase in both the charge quadrupole of the Fe cations and the charge dipole of the arsenic anions upon Co doping from x=0 (Tc=0  K) to x=0.1 (Tc=22.5  K). Our data suggest that an unexpected electronic correlation effect, namely ...
